Protect your home during a move

Moving house with Darwin movers

Although you’re leaving your old house in the rear view mirror on moving day, that doesn’t mean you should treat it without respect or care.

These three tips will also apply to protecting your new home from the process of moving house in Darwin or Palmerston.

After all, someone else is moving in to their new home, and they want it to be as nice as they expected.

Buy Moving Supplies

Before you move out, make sure to buy supplies that will help you preserve the floors and fixtures of the home you’re leaving behind. Camco Transports can help with this.

And besides preserving the home, these measures can protect your pocket book as well: the last thing you want when you arrive at your new home is a bill for damage to your old home.

These three items will go a long way toward protecting the integrity of your old place.

Blankets

Before you slide any heavy objects across the floor, make sure to place a moving blanket underneath.

A blanket prevents your furniture from damaging hardwood or tile floors on your way out the door. As a bonus, these quilts also make it easier to slide large objects across unforgiving flooring.

Here’s another use for these blankets: drape them over exposed bannisters or short walls in your old house and secure them with packing tape. This will prevent nicks or damage to the bannister as your movers haul stuff out of your house.

Flattened Cardboard Boxes

Use these for any areas where there will be heavy traffic on a hardwood or tile floor.

Simply place these enormous pieces of cardboard on the floor and tape them together to create pathways for you and your moving team.

It’ll provide an extra layer of protection from scuffs and damage your floor is bound to take as you’re moving out.

Plastic Sheets

If you’re moving out of a place with carpeted floors, you should invest in this plastic sheeting.

Lay it down over any carpeted area to prevent leaving a soiled and stained carpet behind. This also creates walkways for you and your team when moving everything out of the home.
